A quick tour of the feed.
Facetopia's whole point is remixing each other. That only stays fun if the room stays chill. Here's how we keep it that way.
What "remix" actually does
Every post on the public feed has a remix button. Tap it and Facetopia takes that person's transform as a starting point and runs a new style over it. Their face is the subject only if they chose to post their transform with "remixable" on. Otherwise remix targets the art style, not the person.
You can toggle "remixable: off" per post, or default-off for your whole account. Pro gets fine-grained controls (per-style, per-theme).
Weekly themes
Every Monday, a theme drops. Recent ones:
- "You, but it's 1997 and you're a sitcom neighbor"
- "You, but fae royalty at a bad wedding"
- "You, but you run a nail salon in Tokyo"
- "You, but a CD-ROM game character from 2001"
Top 10 by reactions win a tiny prize pool (currently $200, split). Judged by the community, not us.
What works here
- Remixing yourself, your friends (if they're in on it), public original characters
- Posting your weirdest transform without an explanation
- Reacting in chaos emoji, leaving remixes as your comment
- Tagging themes and making up new ones
- Calling out your own glitches — some of them are great
What'll get you removed
- Uploading someone else's face without their OK
- Minors. Any photo of a minor. Ever.
- Public figures in fake or misleading contexts
- Sexually explicit transforms, any age, any style
- Targeted harassment, dogpiling, stalking
- Hate content, slurs, nazi cosplay ironically or not
- Coordinated impersonation (we check)
How moderation actually runs.
Three layers. We're not shy about using the ban button.
Upload filters
We block upload of photos that look like minors, public figures, or nonconsensual imagery before the transform even starts. False positives happen. You can appeal from the app.
Feed automoderation
A mix of ML and pattern matching catches obvious policy breaks in the feed. Posts land in a review queue, not live, if the score's high enough.
Human review
Every flagged post and every user report gets eyes on it. Priya and Noor run the queue. Reports average 3h to action during US hours, a bit longer overnight.
Report something, or flag a model issue.
Two ways. For posts: tap the three-dot menu on a feed item, pick "report." For everything else — model bias, a style that outputs weird/problematic results, account recovery, account deletion, press, partnerships — use the contact form.
We triage same-day on weekdays. If you don't get a human reply within 48 hours, ping us again.
